Washing, sweating and styling after your session
Answer first

After the first days, you can wash regularly with a mild shampoo, rinse sweat off rather than leaving it to dry on your scalp, and style as usual with lighter products. Gentle, regular habits keep the look and the scalp in better shape than strong products.

Washing

In Malaysia's heat many people wash daily, and that is fine for most scalps. A study on wash frequency found that people generally did not report worse scalp condition with more frequent washing, though it did not test our session. Use your fingertips, rinse well and avoid very hot water.

Choose a mild shampoo. If your scalp is oily, focus the shampoo on the scalp and let the rinse clean the lengths.

Sweat

Sweat itself is not the enemy; leaving it to sit under a helmet or cap for hours is. After exercise or a hot commute, rinse with water or wash, then dry the roots.

If you wear a helmet or tudung daily, keep a clean, breathable inner layer and change it often.

Styling

Light creams, sprays or clays are usually easier on the scalp than heavy waxes. Apply products to the hair rather than rubbing them into the scalp.

Blow-dry on a medium setting, keeping the nozzle moving. Ask your therapist which parting and cut make the result look most natural.

Questions

Is daily washing too much?

For most people in a humid climate, no. If your scalp feels dry or tight, wash every other day and tell us at your review.

Can I colour my hair?

Ask your therapist first so the timing suits your session and your scalp has settled.
