SMP can help camouflage some scalp scars, such as linear scars from past hair surgery, by adding dots that blend with surrounding hair. Results depend on the scar's texture, colour and age. NPM checks the scar first and may advise waiting if it is still healing.
What can be helped
Flat, healed scars often take pigment reasonably. Raised, very shiny or recent scars are less predictable.
What to expect
Scar tissue can hold pigment differently, so more sessions may be needed. The aim is to make the scar less noticeable, not invisible.
When to see a doctor first
Painful, growing, itchy or unhealed scars should be checked by a doctor before any cosmetic work.
Questions
How old should the scar be?
NPM will advise; fully healed scars are preferred.
Will it hurt more on a scar?
Sensation varies. Tell your practitioner if anything is uncomfortable.
