Overall thinning and a receding hairline look different, so we plan them differently. Here is how.

Simulation & Stimulation for diffuse thinning vs a receding hairline
Answer first

Diffuse thinning spreads across the top of the head, while a receding hairline moves back at the temples and front. In a Simulation & Stimulation session, diffuse thinning is planned as an even, all-over density look, and a receding hairline is planned around a natural, age-appropriate front line. The scalp-care half is similar for both.

Two patterns, two plans

Reviews of pattern hair loss describe different shapes in men and women. Men often see the temples and crown thin first; many women keep their front line but notice a wider part and more scalp on top. Research in Asian populations also notes that patterns can differ from those described in European studies, so we do not plan from a textbook drawing.

At the scalp check we photograph the hairline, the part and the crown, and compare them with the back of the head. The comparison tells us which pattern you have and how strong it looks.

Planning for diffuse thinning

With diffuse thinning the goal is usually to reduce how much scalp shows through on top, especially under bright lights. The simulation half spreads the density look evenly so no single area looks overworked. A calm, balanced scalp helps the look sit naturally, which is why the stimulation half and your home routine matter here.

Clients with diffuse thinning often ask about combining in-centre care with a home product. That is something to discuss with your consultant, so the plan stays simple and safe.

Planning for a receding hairline

For a receding hairline the main decision is where the front line should sit. A line that is too low or too straight looks unnatural, especially as you age. We draw it with you in the mirror and adjust until it suits your face and your age.

The temples are treated softly, because real hairlines are irregular. If you prefer a very short, shaved style, SMP at NPM Malaysia may be worth discussing as an alternative.

Questions

Can one session handle both patterns?

Yes, if you have both, the plan covers each area in its own way.

Will the hairline look natural?

We design it with you in the mirror and aim for a soft, age-appropriate line.
