Treat a hair system like fine, dry hair: wash it gently every few days with a mild shampoo, always condition, pat dry and use low heat. Brush from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, and avoid rubbing the base so the hold and the knots last longer.
Washing
Use cool to lukewarm water and a sulphate-free shampoo. Let water run downward; don't scrub in circles.
Drying and styling
Pat with a towel, air-dry or use a cool setting. Light water-based products are kinder to the base than heavy wax.
At night
Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase and make sure the hair is dry to reduce tangling.
Questions
How often should I wash it?
Every 2 to 4 days for most people; more often if you sweat a lot.
